Dan,

I've been using your Fittrek poles for walking around our corporate office in Denver.  I brought them on a mountain camping trip and my 10 year old daughter, Jazmine, asked to climb a 14er.  I grabbed my Nordic walking poles, popped off the rubber tips, and we climbed Handies in relatively short order.  There were a couple of times that the snow and slick gravel were a little difficult for Jazmine, so I simply had her "tether" onto my backpack, while I used the Fittrek poles for balance and to keep my momentum going.

My "Heroic" Nordic Walkers

Dear Dan,
When you gave me a set of nordic poles at the Portland Marathon Expo last October, I didn't have a clear idea what I would do with them other than that I found the whole notion curiously interesting. As I took them out to learn how to use them in my neighborhood in the fall and winter, I began to notice that the motion unloaded some of the stress from my back and feet.

In my group of marathon walkers this year, I have 2 women with interesting challenges: one (Cindy) was born with bilateral hip displasia and had both hips resurfaced around 5 years ago; the other (Linda) was paralyzed and unable to walk at all 5 years ago. As the season began, both really struggled to complete distance, but were determined. New personal records got set.

Separately, we all came to the interesting conclusion that nordic poles might be worth a try and both women began using them about a month ago. It's working! Both are still slow; both are working hard to crack the "10-mile ceiling" but both are determined to keep reaching for the marathon finish line on October 7th and we are decidedly living in "miracle" territory with each new step.

So, many  thanks for the brash idea of handing me a set of poles. It is changing these women's lives one step at a time. I'll look forward to introducing you to these gals at the Expo this year.

"I am an athlete!"®

I ordered your poles a couple of weeks ago, and for the first time in years I can walk straight! I can't get the smile off my face when I'm out walking! Nearly 12 years ago I suffered a head injury that damaged my vision (Depth perception) and balance.
Walking with my head held high I can see more things than before. I don't walk "bent over" and the physical feeling of standing up straight is wonderful. I intend to share this with my doctors and therapists.

Hi Dan
I just wanted to send you a few lines to let you know how pleased I am with my Nordic walking poles and Power Belt. They are AWESOME!  The poles and belt really add a whole lot more to simply going for a walk.

I recommend fittrek to anyone who wants improve their stamina. I am a professional golfer who wants to keep my arms and body fit. I have enjoyed fittrek poles and they go where I go. Learning the fundamentals of trekking with our coach Tony Weaver has made it possible for me to trek up to twenty miles on one of our weekend adventures. We have the most fantastic group of trekkers on South Beach. They are my heroes!

Dear Dan,

Thank you for developing this unique and remarkable exercise system and equipment!

As you may know, several years ago knee surgery forced me to give up running (10Ks, marathons, ultra marathons) and doing triathlons.  Fittrek’s Nordic Walking is the first sport I found that gives me a workout comparable to my old routines.  One difference, however, is that I tend to smile more ‘cause I enjoy it so much.  In fact, I like it so much that I became a Certified Fittrek Instructor.

However, I don’t want give the impression that one must be heavily into endurance sports to enjoy and benefit from Nordic Walking.  You can start from any level, have a great time and for sure your fitness will improve.  Fittrek’s LPI system, especially the LPI Belt, which is not found in any other Nordic Walking package,  allows one to continually progress and be motivated to new levels of fitness while having a great time. I have found that once people get started with Fittrek’s Nordic Walking, they stick with it.  I have been doing it several times a week for over 3 years and there are many people in our group that have been using your system just as long or longer.

Best wishes and keep up the good work,

Tony Weaver Nordic Walking

FITTREK has increased my functional endurance tremendously. I am hooked-- on sand, road, or mountain trail. Last summer a group of us trekked 8 hours over a mountain summit at 13,000ft. altitude. I never would have dreamed of this before. Thanks Dan! Chris Goldstein

Tried & tested for mountain biking!!!!!

Due to family & work commitments, I entered my mountain bike race with limited training this season. Last season I won the XC Series in my 40 year old age category, however I had never achieved an all age overall win (I'm too old to compete against all of the young "lungs"). My training this season only consisted of long durations in the 70- 80% Max HR parameters and replacing my anaerobic training with 3 weekly sessions of FITTREK (fitness trekking only). To my amazement, I finished the race as the "all age overall" winner, crossing the finish line 1:40 ahead of the 2nd place rider & all of the "young lungs". Evaluating my race, I experienced limited fatigue, easy breathing, endless supplies of energy, the ability to climb faster and cleared technical obstacles without effort. I am confident that the benefits of FITTREK is the direct correlation to finishing ahead of the pack, with ease. It’s as if I had an extra pair of lungs. Angie Sturtevant

Dan, My name is Vince Phillips. About a month ago I ordered two sets of Urban trekking poles, which was money well spent. The workout I received from using the Fittrek poles is the best I believe I have ever received. I HATE WEIGHTS! PERIOD!. By using the Fittrek poles, my upper body has become more defined and my stomach is flat. Dan...it really works! Several people have stopped me to ask about them and I always give the fittrek.com address. I certainly hope they are contacting you and ordering a set. Thanks for a great product. Vince Phillips

Dan,

I just got through ordering my second set of Fittrek poles in three weeks! I love them! I've been walking eight miles every day now. Here in New England, the sidewalks become icy in November and stay that way until late April. I've always had a hard time walking in the winter because of this, yet hiking and walking are really the only forms of exercise I enjoy. I always thought that I'd like to use a set of ski poles for balance while walking, but never got around to figuring out how to make it work. Then one day, in dark and dreary January, I did a web search on the benefits of walking and up came your web site. I was thrilled when I saw the poles! I ordered a pair that very day, and began using them as soon as they arrived in the mail. I found that my balance on muddy and icy sidewalks has improved, and my confidence has increased because I know I have the poles to help me keep my balance. But when I went to bed at night after my first few walks, it was my ARMS that felt that 'exercised' ache! I was amazed! I had no idea that I had been working my upper body as I walked along so seemingly effortlessly! One day, as I was nearing home from my long walk, my neighbor and friend popped out of her house to talk to me. She marveled at the poles and told me that they were 'just what she needed because her balance was so poor while walking!' I gave her mine and came home to order a new set for myself. Now I expect both of us to be winning you new customers simply by walking around the neighborhood! I had a few "Where are your skis"? comments, to which I simply reply; "At home in the closet!" and continue walking with a big smile. If any of you reading this were on the edge, wondering whether the poles are worth the investment, I'd encourage you to take the plunge and order them. You'll not regret it for a minute!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Beth Perrotta
